Lunch & Learn:
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the
Global Health Workplace
JANUARY 31, 2018
One of the biggest challenges organizations and institutions face is staying ahead of the rapid pace at which the workforce is changing across the globe. Employee turnover, immigration, political, economic and cultural shifts, new technologies, emerging markets and other variables create an ever-evolving and increasingly complex organizational ecosystem that can pose challenges to recruiting, developing and retaining talent and maintaining an equitable workplace for all employees. Companies that maintain a diverse workforce and openly articulate values of equity and inclusion tend to appeal to a wider customer and supplier base. Diversity brings tangible economic and other benefits to companies and their stakeholders, and yet, diversity is a buzzword that is often not appropriately paired with inclusion and equity. Diversity, equity and inclusion are all needed to ensure that a workplace is cohesive, collaborative, creative and conducive to employees working at their maximum potential, which drives organizational growth, competitiveness and high-impact results.
In this lunch and learn session, colleagues from TGHC member agencies, other invited organizations, and students will:
-
Discuss definitions, case studies and evidence-based best practices and recommendations for diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, with a focus on global health workplaces
-
Describe agencies’ diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, challenges and progress to date and how these efforts are contributing to improved results
-
Develop ways that colleagues can share resources and support each other in advancing workplace diversity, equity and inclusion for greater organizational, social, economic and global health impact
All colleagues and students who are working on or interested in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the global health workplace are welcome to attend.
